ABOUT the DES MOINES HIGHER EDUCATION COLLABORATIVE

The Primary Objective

The Des Moines Higher Education Collaborative (DMHEC) is an essential element in Central Iowa’s long-term economic growth strategy as the provider of choice for world class leadership, professional and business development training. Spurred by the demands of business leadership and Global Economic Competition, the collaborative experience improves Iowa’s workers ability to compete in global economy as we build wealth-producing intellectual assets for the working adult.

By the year 2015, the educational attainment of Central Iowa’s workforce will exceed national averages and will exceed the attainment in neighboring states.

The Des Moines Higher Education Collaborative is an association of seven of Iowa’s premier colleges and universities and the Des Moines Public Schools. The Collaborative was organized in September, 2000 at the request of Central Iowa’s business leaders who saw a need for world class higher education, professional development and corporate training opportunities for their employees.

Real Education

There are no diploma mills or sub-standard institutions among the Collaborative members. Only elite higher education institutions offering the highest quality and broadest scope of educational programming are invited to participate. Together with their private sector partners; they constitute Iowa’s premier higher education, professional development and corporate training organization. Collaborative members meet the diverse needs of adult learners by offering a full range of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate courses in at least 15 modern locations throughout Greater Des Moines.

Training That Works

Through traditional instruction, blended learning, distance learning and on-line training, Collaborative members offer a wide range of customized corporate training, professional development seminars, workshops and certificate programs. Central Iowa is home to hundreds of professional and trade associations whose members have on-going need for high-quality continuing education.

Leadership for Life
